A Turkey tax identification number (TIN), also known as a Vergi Kimlik Numarası (VKN) in Turkish, is a unique identification number that is assigned to individuals and legal entities in Turkey for tax purposes.
The TIN/VKN is necessary for all individuals and businesses in Turkey to conduct financial and tax-related transactions, such as registering a company, opening a bank account, or filing tax returns.
The TIN/VKN is a 10-digit number consisting of a two-digit check digit, followed by an eight-digit identification number.
To obtain a TIN/VKN, individuals and businesses must apply to the Turkish Revenue Administration. If the applicant is a foreign national who is not resident in Turkey, they may appoint a tax representative to apply on their behalf.
It is important to note that failure to obtain a valid TIN/VKN can result in fines and penalties from the Turkish Revenue Administration.
